INDOOR RULES
ROCKVILLE AND DULLES BOYS
CLASSIC FORMAT RETURNS:
Games will start promptly on the hour.  It is the responsibility of coaches and players to be on the field and ready to go on time.  The game clock will start on time.

6 by 6 goal
7 v 7 - 2 mid, 2 attack, 2 defense, 1 goalie
Off-sides - Keep 2 plus goalie on defensive end, Keep 2 on offensive end of field.
No Boarding- 1 – 3 minute penalty and/or possible ejection
No full Body Checks - Players are allowed to stand a player up but not knock a player downSubstitutions on the fly or after goal
Time - Two 23 minute halves. Five minute half time
Long Sticks - 2 long sticks allowed, but not mandatory. Defenseman can play short sticks if they want. This will help increase footwork during the off-season.

SPRING RULES    
Games will start promptly on the hour.  It is the responsibility of coaches and players to be on the field and ready to go on time.  The game clock will start on time.

In order to maximize playing time all games will consist of:

  • Four 12 minute running time quarters
  • One (quick) timeout per half per team
  • 1 minute between quarters
  • 4 minute halftime

 

All games JV, Middle School, Washington Metro and Men’s League will use High School Federation rules including the following:

  • 10 second rule (except Middle School and Men’s league)
  • One handed checks
  • Time outs with possession anywhere on the field

 

In the event of a tie game at the end of regulation there will be a 3 minute sudden death overtime period.  If no team scores the game will remain a tie.

Fall League

Games will start promptly on the hour.  It is the responsibility of coaches and players to be on the field and ready to go on time.  The game clock will start on time.

 

In order to maximize playing time all games will consist of:

  • Two 25 minute running time halves
  • One (quick) timeout per half per team
  • 4 minute halftime

 

Varsity games will play under NCAA rules including:

  • Slow whistle when flag is down (defense must gain possession)
  • Time out only in offensive box.  Anywhere on a dead ball
  • Face offs are called : down and whistle (no set call)

 

JV, Premier and Rec League games will use High School Federation rules including the following:

  • 10 second rule (except rec league)
  • One handed checks
  • Time outs with possession anywhere on the field
